We are over half way through our vacation in beautiful San Juan.
It’s been such an amazing trip.
Today, I had the privilege of speaking at a meeting of the Social Media Club, Puerto Rico.
The local bloggers were wonderful {A BIG thank you to Zelma, who made it all happen and to the San Juan Marriott for hosting the event} and I am excited to follow their journey as they collaborate on upcoming projects and step further into the world of branding and sponsorship. We had a lot to talk about!
After the meeting, I went back to the room and ordered room service.
Once again, San Juan Marriott exceeded my expectations with their exceptional staff.
I didn’t have a room service menu, so I asked for a chicken quesadilla- I had one earlier this week and it’s so good {lots of chicken, light on the cheese- which makes dousing it in sour cream feel less guilty, right? Right.}.
Apparently the quesadilla isn’t on the room service menu.
Guess what?
It showed up 20 minutes later anyway.
By a gentlemen who not only delivered it, but asked if everything in my room was to my liking and if there was anything we needed adjusted.
I sat in my comfy bed and enjoyed my quesadilla ALONE with only the sound of the waves as company.
*SIGH*
I swear, this trip has added a year to my life.
Tonight, after a few hours in the pool, the three of us walked on the beach.
Does it sound crazy that walking on that beach was the closest I’ve felt to my mom since she died in December?
She LOVED the ocean, and we vacationed to places like Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands while growing up.
Seeing my son run in and out of the waves as the sun went down reminded me that life does go on, just as its meant to.
And, even if she isn’t here physically, I can feel her all around me.
Alright, enough mushiness.
After our beach stroll, we headed right outside the hotel to an awesome street fair. {This is the great thing about being in at the Marriott- a great location}
We had yummy food, beer and fabulous music….I thought you’d like it too, so I took this video…..

I love it! And it’s not mushy. Trust me, I know what you are talking about. As we are rounding on my mami’s favorite holiday, I am going through ups and downs. In a sense feeling great because I know that my planning and executing will make her smile and feeling so sad because she is no longer with us and the holiday itself marks the time when she started declining in health (literally, Christmas eve).
But life does go on and I know for a fact that she is right there with you, ushering you to ENJOY YOURSELF and happy that you have decided to take a vacation in a spot that she would most certainly have enjoyed!
oxoxox,

Muah.
Thank you so much for that comment.
My mom died December 20th last year, so we are coming up on a year- not sure how I’m going to feel, but I’ll get through it with the family just like every other milestone we’ve passed since she has been gone.
She is watching- I’m sure of it- thrilled to see my son enjoying the warm, blue water like she did.

Awe Tiff this made my heart ache…sometimes it’s the simple things in life {like walking on the beach} that puts everything into prospective and makes us feel closer to the ones we love. I’m glad you are having a good time…enjoy this moment with your family
XOXO
This was beautiful Tiffany. I, too, feel my mom with me in both the simplest and the grandest parts of my life.
My mom never met my second son, Noah. And yet, I know she knows him. I see so much of her in his sense of humor and his smile.
Thank you for writing about your mom. It has helped me let go of the day to day and think about my own for a moment.
Aww.. that is wonderful to feel your mom like that.
So awesome! You deserve this time with your family to just relax and enjoy life!
OK, so now I am clicking on every link you ever posted! LOL! Trying to do my homework!
Learning, reading, looking forward to maybe even talking with you some about this, and getting your most expert advice.
And I love, love, love that you felt close to your Mom, and that this trip ADDED a year to your life!
